When feeling weak, resting excessively is not the best solution because it can accelerate the body's decline. This happens because when we rest too much, our energy production decreases. Our bodies have a characteristic: when not in use, things will decline, similar to how muscles atrophy without exercise. If we don't stay active, our energy production weakens, making us easily fatigued and less motivated, leading to a decline in physical functions.

Our bodies need energy for activities like walking, running, and thinking. When energy levels decrease, we feel tired and unmotivated. This energy decline is one reason our bodies age. For example, weight loss becomes difficult in middle age because our energy generation capacity decreases, and ingested energy is not fully utilized.

However, improving energy generation can increase physical strength and keep the body young and healthy. The key to this energy generation lies in the mitochondria, which are components within our cells responsible for producing energy.

Resting excessively reduces the number of mitochondria, weakening the body. To prevent this, it's essential to exercise regularly. Increasing physical activity stimulates the production of more mitochondria, enhancing the body's energy production capacity and physical strength.

This applies to people of all ages. Initially, exercise might be challenging, but it becomes easier over time as the body adapts. Continuous exercise leads to an increase in the number of mitochondria, dramatically improving the body's energy production.

For those not used to exercising, starting physical activity signals the body to produce more energy. Regular exercise requires consistent energy, prompting an increase in mitochondrial numbers. This change enhances overall physical function.

Conversely, a sedentary lifestyle reduces interactions and activities, leading to a decline in physical and cognitive functions. To avoid this, it's crucial to stay active, stimulating both the body and brain. Regularly using the brain and body prevents the decline of cognitive and physical functions.

Mitochondria are present in all cells, especially nerve cells. Recent research indicates that a decline in energy production by mitochondria contributes to dementia. Therefore, adopting a lifestyle that boosts mitochondrial function can help prevent dementia.
